Skilled Migration through Canberra Matrix

Canberra Matrix is a system established by the government of Australian Capital Territory that defines the eligibility, provides the guidelines and platform for visa application to the person who wants to migrate to Australia through ACT state nomination category.

Who is eligible ?
It is mandatory that a person meets at least 65 points according to Department of Home Affairs point test system to be eligible for applying permanent residency in Australian Capital Territory. Before applying to Canberra Matrix, applicants must complete DHA’s Expression of Interest using SKILLSELECT. In addition to that, ACT has its own eligibility criteria defined for state nomination through Canberra Matrix.

Skilled Migration – ACT nomination:
If you are skilled in an occupation which is considered in demand in Canberra, you many be eligible for ACT nomination. There is a separate ACT skilled occupation list defined for Australian Capital Territory for migration purpose.
The Australian Capital Territory offers Territory Nomination to Canberra Residents under the following Skilled migration streams:
1.Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) – subclass 491
2.Skilled nominated (Permanent) – Subclass 190

Who is eligible for ACT 491:
Skill assessment in an occupation which is included in ACT Critical Skills list.
AND
Living and working at least 20 hrs/week in ACT for at least 3 months.
OR
You have worked in Canberra for the Sponsoring ACT employer for at least 3 months as a primary holder of a subclass 457/482 visa, and your visa period is valid for next 12 months.
OR
You can be self-employed in ABN.

Who is eligible for ACT 190:
Skill assessment in an occupation which is included in ACT Critical Skills list.
AND
Living and working at least 35 hrs/week in ACT for at least 6 months
OR
You have worked in Canberra for the Sponsoring ACT employer for at least 6 months as a primary holder of a subclass 457/482 visa, and your visa period is valid for next 12 months.
OR
You can be self-employed in ABN.

After meeting the criteria, applicants with highest point will be invited through a regular invitation round conducted by the state government.
